Monday, 3:12 a.m. — A resident of Camino Espuela reported a burglary in progress, describing the intruder as “low, fast, and confident.” Responding officers located a javelina in the carport, in the trash, and eventually in the neighbor's yard, in that order. The trash can did not survive. The javelina is not in custody.
Tuesday, 6:48 p.m. — A caller reported a suspicious man looking into vehicles on Calle Diamante. Officers made contact with the man, who was looking for his own vehicle, which he located during the conversation, directly behind him.
Wednesday, 9:55 p.m. — Officers responded to a noise complaint at a residence on Placita del Coyote. The gathering was determined to be a book club that had, in the words of the host, “gotten away from us a little.” The book had not been discussed. Officers advised the club to lower its voices and, per the log, “declined an invitation to weigh in on the ending.”
Thursday, 11:20 a.m. — A resident turned in a suspicious package left on her doorstep. The package was determined to be a pecan sampler from a relative in Ohio, with a card. The resident took the pecans. The department kept the card by mistake and would like to return it.
Friday, 4:15 p.m. — A caller reported a neighbor watering outside permitted hours. Responding officers noted, per the log, that the caller's own sprinklers were operating at the time of the complaint. Both parties received informational brochures.
Saturday, 7:02 p.m. — A resident flagged down an officer outside La Sartén to ask how the department pronounces “fajita.” The officer, per the log, “declined to escalate.”
